William Blake, Songs of Experience, 1794
Ah Sun-flower weary of time.
Who countest the steps of the Sun:
Seeking after that sweet golden clime
Where the travellers journey is done
Where the Youth pined away with desire,
And the pale Virgin shrouded in snow:
Arise from their graves and aspire,
Where my Sun-flower wishes to go!
Ah Girasole! stanco del tempo,
che conti i passi del Sole,
cercando quel dolce dorato paese
dove il cammino del viaggiatore è finito:
dove il Giovane consumato dal desiderio,
e la pallida Vergine ammantata di neve,
si alzano dalle loro tombe e respirano
dove il mio Girasole desidera andare!
